A uterus that tips forward toward the bladder. This condition happens in a high majority of mature females, and thus is considered normal. When the uterus is tipped towards the back, the condition is called retroverted uterus, or retroversion. The positions in between antiversion and retroversion can be numerous, and are clinically called first-degree, second-degree or third-degree antiversion/postversion/retroversion. A retroverted uterus is thought to be frequently connected to painful menstrual periods/dysmenorrhea. When this relationship is clinically confirmed, the position of the uterus can be corrected by minor surgery/uteropecsy, usually performed through a laparoscope.
