Bacteraemia

The presence of bacteria in the blood.  If that happens, infection with typical clinical signs will result.  The signs are inflammation, increased temperature, and possible swelling.  All of these symptoms can be caused by other agents, specifically viruses and fungi/yeast.  When bacteria cause clinical symptoms, the most effective medication is antibiotics.  It is necessary to test the bacteria present in order to choose the proper treatment.
