Menstruation. A discharging of blood, secretions, and tissue debris from the uterus that recurs in non-pregnant breeding-age primate females and is considered to represent a readjustment of the uterus to the non-pregnant state following changes accompanying the preceding ovulation, with production of ovarian hormones in cyclical fashion. It is the culmination of the menstrual cycle.
