Artificial insemination using the husband’s sperm. The husband’s sperm is carefully processed before inserting it into the woman’s vagina, cervical canal or directly into the uterus. In order to be successful it needs to be done shortly prior to ovulation. AIS/AID is done when the husband is sterile or severely infertile. AIH is done when the husband is infertile, having low sperm count, or sperm with low motility or ejaculate with low volume.
